Why Green Float
Green Float addresses the operating weaknesses that often leave small and decentralised biological STPs underloaded, overloaded or poorly controlled.

Occupancy, hourly flow and sewage strength can vary considerably in residential, institutional and commercial facilities. Biological systems depend on a healthy biomass, adequate food-to-microorganism balance, dissolved oxygen and stable operating conditions. Long lean periods followed by shock loads can disturb this balance.

Green Float uses a predominantly physicochemical and advanced-oxidation route. Its core process does not rely on bacterial growth to begin treatment. This supports modular commissioning, intermittent operation and faster response where sewage flow changes with occupancy.

The system remains an engineered treatment plant. Equalisation, screening, solids management, residual control, disinfection and reuse polishing must match the actual influent and the consent or reuse requirement.

Core Process Architecture

Oxidise, coagulate, float and polish

Green Float brings several treatment mechanisms together so that soluble and suspended pollution can be addressed within one coordinated train.

01 / CEO

Catalytic Electro-Oxidation and Coagulation

Electrochemical reactions generate coagulant species, hydroxyl ions and fine gas bubbles within the reactor.

  • Charge neutralisation and electrophoresis
  • Bridge and sweep coagulation
  • Oxidation of susceptible pollutants
  • Electro-flotation of formed flocs
02 / COR

Catalytic Oxidation Reactor

A catalyst, radiation source and controlled oxidant promote advanced oxidation of residual organic compounds.

  • Reactive-species generation
  • Reduction of selected residual organics
  • Colour and odour polishing where applicable
  • Downstream carbon polishing when required
03 / AAB

Air-Assisted Buoyancy

Fine air bubbles attach to solids and chemical flocs, lifting them to the surface for removal.

  • Rapid solids and floc separation
  • Compact footprint compared with gravity settling
  • Surface sludge removal
  • Potentially thicker separated sludge
Combined treatment effect: oxidation and reduction reactions, hydrodynamic mixing, charge neutralisation, sweep coagulation, electrophoresis, flotation and disinfection are integrated according to the design basis.
Indicative Process Flow

Clear treatment stages from inlet to reuse

The final process may add or remove stages after wastewater characterisation and trial work.

01ScreeningRemove rags, fibres and coarse solids that can obstruct equipment.
02EqualisationBalance flow, concentration, pH and batch variation before treatment.
03CEO ReactorInitiate electro-oxidation, charge neutralisation and coagulation.
04AAB SeparationFloat formed flocs and collect surface sludge without a conventional secondary clarifier.
05COR PolishingApply catalytic oxidation to residual organics where required by the treatment target.
06FiltrationRemove remaining suspended matter and protect the final polishing stage.
07DisinfectionControl pathogens using the selected UV, chlorination, ozone or validated combination.
08Reuse / DischargeStore and distribute treated water for the approved reuse or compliant discharge route.
Sludge route: floated sludge collection → sludge holding → dewatering → authorised disposal or further treatment. Sludge generation and characteristics depend on influent load, electrode chemistry and operating conditions.
Operating Advantages

Designed for decentralised and variable-load applications

Modular Capacity

Parallel or staged modules can follow project occupancy instead of forcing a large plant to operate under prolonged lean load.

Useful for phased developments

No Biomass Recovery Period

The core treatment does not depend on rebuilding a biological population after shutdown or shock loading.

Supports intermittent and on-demand operation

No Secondary Clarifier

Air-assisted flotation separates formed solids, reducing dependence on gravity settling and large clarification areas.

Compact separation arrangement

Odour Control Potential

A short, controlled treatment route can reduce the conditions that commonly cause septic odour, subject to inlet handling and ventilation design.

Site layout still matters

Automatic Control

Flow, current, voltage, dosing, pressure and level can be monitored and interlocked for controlled treatment.

Instrumentation follows the design basis

Reuse Integration

Filtration, disinfection and optional membrane polishing can prepare treated sewage for the approved reuse application.

Final quality depends on the complete train

Demonstrated Configuration

Compact equipment-led installation

The working-facility photograph shows the equipment-based arrangement used for a 30 KLD Green Float STP configuration.

  • Skid-oriented equipment supports controlled fabrication and installation.
  • Modular arrangement can match the available footprint and development schedule.
  • Accessible components support inspection, cleaning and replacement.
  • Integrated controls can coordinate flow, electrochemical treatment, oxidation and separation.

Final plant layout, redundancy, tank volumes, ventilation, electrical classification and operator access remain site-specific.

Process Comparison

Choosing between Green Float and biological treatment

Green Float Platform

  • Core mechanism: physicochemical and advanced oxidation
  • Load response: suited to modular and intermittent operation
  • Separation: air-assisted flotation
  • Start-up: does not require biomass development for the core process
  • Key utilities: electricity, electrodes, oxidant and compressed air as applicable
  • Best fit: compact or variable-load decentralised applications after validation

Conventional Biological STP

  • Core mechanism: microbial conversion of biodegradable load
  • Load response: benefits from stable flow and organic loading
  • Separation: clarification, membrane separation or other biomass retention
  • Start-up: requires seeding and biomass stabilisation
  • Key utilities: aeration, recirculation, nutrient balance and sludge handling
  • Best fit: stable sewage with adequate operation and biological treatability
Application Areas

Where a modular treatment platform can help

Residential DevelopmentsPhased occupancy and limited operating attention.
Hotels and HostelsDaily and seasonal changes in sewage generation.
HospitalsControlled treatment with application-specific disinfection and polishing.
InstitutionsSchools, campuses and facilities with intermittent population.
Commercial BuildingsCompact STPs for flushing, gardening and approved utility reuse.
Remote FacilitiesModular treatment where operator availability and footprint are constrained.
STP UpgradesAdd-on treatment or polishing where existing units underperform.
Water Reuse ProjectsIntegration with filtration, UF or other barriers for the required reuse quality.
Performance Confirmation

Representative testing establishes the design

Green Float performance depends on actual sewage strength, conductivity, solids, oil and grease, alkalinity, treatment target and operating conditions.

01 CharacteriseFlow profile, BOD, COD, TSS and nutrients.
02 TestElectrode, current, catalyst and oxidant response.
03 BalanceHydraulics, solids, power and chemical demand.
04 VerifyEffluent, pathogens, sludge and reuse suitability.
05 EngineerModules, controls, redundancy and lifecycle cost.
Technical qualification: The presentations cite high single-step COD reduction and substantially lower sludge generation in selected applications. These figures must not be treated as universal guarantees. YWT should confirm removal, sludge yield, power consumption, electrode use, oxidant consumption and final water quality through representative trials and an agreed design basis.
